2007 Accomplishments - Lemon Law
In 2007, the Governor's Office of Consumer Affairs (OCA) continued its crackdown against motor vehicle dealers and leasing companies which failed to forward Motor Vehicle Warranty Rights Act fees to the state in a timely manner. These are fees paid by consumers upon the lease or purchase of a new vehicle to support the Lemon Law program. OCA issued numerous collection notices and initiated over 38 enforcement actions. These actions netted $11,070 in delinquent fees and $6,000 in civil penalties and fines.
