Insurance matters do not fall under the purview of the Georgia Fair Business Practices Act, and therefore the Georgia Attorney General's Consumer Protection Division does not handle complaints involving insurance companies. Instead, complaints about the practices of insurance companies and their agents, including insurance fraud, should be directed to the office of the Georgia's Office of Insurance and Safety Fire Commissioner.

The Commissioner of Insurance is responsible for monitoring insurance companies, licensing insurance agents and regulating industrial loan officers. The Office of the Commissioner of Insurance handles questions and complaints regarding specific insurance providers, insurance rates or policies, and the licensing of companies and agents. You may also contact that office for information on the financial standing of insurance companies.
